DESCRIPTION

This level is a 3D environment where players explore, battle enemy AI, and find treasure. For this assignment, Ben and I create a narrative bible, a beat diagram, and a script to satisfy the narrative requirements of the assignment. I created a demo of the level in Unreal Engine and used a few asset packs to create the environment.

CHALLENGES

The largest challenges Ben and I had to overcome was the lack of artistic direction. As neither of us are very artistically inclined, we were unable to create any original artwork for the assignment. Therefore, we used pictures from Sea of Thieves, as well as asset packs from the asset store.

SKILLS

I gained a lot of knowledge and skills throughout the course of this project. The one that I found most important was level designing with the narrative in mind. The most important piece to help ensure everything fell into place was the beat diagram I created. It detailed every narrative and level beat that the player would play through, and what would specifically happen. I also gained insight in using Unreal to design environments and import assets.
